9/16/2023 0 Comments Flat head fishIf you are fishing in the South end of Flathead Lake, Rocky Point has been doing well, and in the North, Painted Rocks to Caroline Point, but there aren’t too many places the Whitefish aren’t. The perch fry are slightly larger in size now, in that one and a half to two inch range and the small Whitefish we are finding in the Lakers bellies are in that four to six inch range. We continue to catch the Whitefish jigging spoons such as Zimmer Rattle D Zastors, Petes Tackle Whitefish Slayers and other, perch fry imitators. We are catching Lake Trout in 60-100 feet of water, just outside the schools of Whitefish that seem to really like that 40-60 foot depths. Whether it’s been really good fishing for everyone, or if it’s our team of guides from Mo Fisch and A Able Charters, all under the umbrella of Howe’s Fishing, all sharing and putting each other on the hot bites daily that is making the difference, we are having a season to remember for sure. We have experienced great spring fishing for Lakers, transitioned to Lake Whitefish in mid-summer, and in between, Kokanee, and Cutthroat, big Yellow Perch and even a Bull Trout or two. The fishing on Flathead Lake this summer has been some of the best we have seen in years.
